What is health coaching?

As GPs, hospital, and healthcare services become overwhelmed and the number of lifestyle-related diseases is on the rise, society is moving to more preventative healthcare and away from sick care. 

This can only result in a healthier future for everyone.

For example your doctor tells you to “exercise more, eat healthier, and I’ll see you next month”, health coaching gives you the tools to know what “exercising more” and “eating healthier” mean, and how to incorporate this into your daily life. 

Modern life can take its toll. The burden of staying up late, endless coffee and sugary snacks, sedentary life, the frequent need for a drink at the end of the day and a care-free diet can stress the body. 

Together, we can figure out what is not ideal for your vitality, and how to make sure your daily actions and habits are working towards it, rather than against it. 

As a health coach I work with you to help you overcome the barriers that are preventing you from becoming the healthiest version of you. 

I am a support to whom you can voice concerns, set goals and help implement food and lifestyle changes to get your mojo back. I will empower you to take charge of your own health, so as to create sustainable changes and break any negative habits. This is done by questioning and essentially tapping into the answers within you, to reveal the changes you need.

 

How can health coaching help me ?

  • You always seem to be on a diet and would like to explore a introducing healthy additions approach instead of deprivation

  • You would like an alternative to the ‘quick fix’ and to adopt a long term approach of “progress over perfection”

How does a consultation work?

We will take an overview of your health, sleep, exercise and environment, determine where adjustments are needed and co-create a strategy to get you on a path back to vibrant health & wellbeing. 

This involves a thorough health history combined with a review of body systems at the first consultation. We shall identify the areas of life where change is desired, then find solutions to enable you to reach your goals.

Scope of practice

I may help clients to fully understand their own health and the root causes of any health condition(s) as diagnosed by a qualified health professional.

 

While I have a sound knowledge of nutrition and am qualified to support your health, alongside your healthcare team, I cannot  ‘treat’ or diagnose a medical condition. 

In the case of complex conditions if I am unable to help you then I can signpost you to someone who can. 

 

A consent form between the health coach and client is signed before the first consultation.

Where are you based?

I am based in Cannes, on the French Riviera.

Generally, health and nutrition coaching is done virtually, in the comfort of your own personal space. 

For any in-person services, such as cooking on retreats, I have the flexibility to travel, so get in touch.

What is Nutrition Coaching and Culinary Medicine ?

 

A Nutrition Coach is trained in nutritional science so as personalise healthy eating based on your personal preferences and health concerns. Supporting you by creating meal plans, recipes and a model for healthy eating. Guiding in grocery shopping choices, store cupboard/ pantry cleanouts and basic cooking skills to allow you to create simple healthy meals.

 

Culinary medicine is an evidence-based field that blends the art of food and cooking with the science of nutrition. It ensures an understanding of how the body works, the impact of specific nutrients on its functioning and how those nutrients can be best obtained from food to be incorporated into a client’s diet specific to them. 

Special attention is given to how food works in the body as well as the social and pleasurable aspects of eating and cooking. 

 

It addresses the immediate need, ‘‘What do I eat for my condition?’’

By taking a personalised approach rather than a ‘cookie cutter’ dietary model it’s easier to drive behaviour change ensuring results, so as to empower you to eat happy and restore well-being.
